SAN MATEO, Calif – March 23, 2016 – Guavus, Inc., a leading provider of big data analytics applications for operational intelligence, today announced that Roger Brooks has joined the company as Chief Scientist. Dr. Brooks is a leading expert in information analytics based on large-scale machine learning and advancing the use of data mining to help businesses strengthen IT operations, engineer new products, optimize marketing and deliver real-time personalized content.

Brooks has held various executive positions including an eight-year tenure at Hewlett-Packard, most recently as Chief Architect in the new HP Software. Prior to that he was Distinguished Technologist and Chief Scientist in HP’s Marketing Optimization business, where he was responsible for marketing analytics. He also served as CTO for Applications at HP Autonomy, driving innovations for next-generation products. Before joining HP, he co-founded and led start-ups in the information analytics and mobile data services spaces including the pioneering development of systems for multimedia networking and the delivery of video to cell phones. He holds numerous patents and is also a published author on analytics topics including text mining, behavioral analytics and multi-channel marketing optimization. Brooks spent the first half of his career in academia as a theoretical particle physicist at Stanford University and M.I.T., where his last position was as Associate Professor of Physics. As an international expert in string theory, topological field theories and quantum gravity he applied research mathematics to answering deep questions about the nature of the universe. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from M.I.T.
