Agile Program Manager

Role Description:

  • Expert at facilitating multiple complex programs and releases, consisting of multiple squads
  • Guides to squad to identify roadblocks or impediments. Enables the squad to remove impediments by identifying correct people, resources and methods or practices
  • Raises timely risks & alerts at the right time with right people and works diligently to identify mitigation plans
  • Capable of mapping and following correct process depending on the type of program or release
  • Enables the squad to achieve the product delivery goals with great quality to provide exceptional business value to customer within designated constraints
  • Facilitates discussion for requirement clarification and detailing as needed. Instinctively coaches the squad to assess completion and richness of the requirement
  • Guides the squad on how to use Agile/Scrum practices, ceremonies, artifacts and values to delight customers
  • Provides visibility into progress, constraints, unknowns and risks throughout the release to the squad, product owners and stakeholders thru appropriate methods
  • Brings the learnings and best practices back to agile chapter and organization level to foster content learning and improvement
  • Coaches the squad on every step of driving the squad to excellence, high performance and self-organizing
  • Supports and educates the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Has applied various planning and estimation techniques effectively
  • Has proven capability to assess completeness of requirements, functional breakdown and stories with respect to scope, risks, assumptions and dependecies
  • Has experience with assessing squad maturity and guide the squad to the next level thru continuous, well-paced and sustainable pace

Essential experience skills and qualities:

  • Holds bachelor/ post-graduate degree in computer engineering or other engineering disciplines. Or BCA/ MCA
  • 12+ years of experience in software development or project or program management as a part of development squad
  • At least 3-5 years of engaged agile practice experience diligently applying agile principles & practices
  • Sees himself or herself growing in process ownership area by owning process governance, adherence and improvements for various programs
  • Well versed with agile maturity models and metrics
  • Providing all support to the squad using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Has experience in product development and hence well aware of various pieces of the release cycle
  • Understands importance of engineering and CICD practices and collaborates with chapters to implement the same
  • Has worked actively in big data technologies and analytics
  • Has background and work experience in leading telecommunication and networks domain projects
  • Proficient with agile tools such as JIRA
  • Possess technical context and know-how to weigh in technical choices made by the squad if needed
  • Experience in working with distributed and remote teams

Preferred:

  • Certification in various relevant process/ methodologies
  • Agile Transformation Experience
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
